Wales Deanery's Business Systems Support Unit (BSSU) has been working in close collaboration with the Welsh Institute for Minimal Access Therapy (WIMAT) in the development of a new online course booking system.
WIMAT facilitates a wide range of basic, intermediate and advanced level courses in a host of subjects including General, Cardiothoracic and Laparoscopic Surgery, and welcomes delegates from across the UK and worldwide. More than 500 experts from around the world teach on the courses, which are provided in conjunction with postgraduate centres and clinical skills laboratories across Wales.
The course booking system will ensure a smooth and secure process for course applicants, as well as an efficient back end processing system for WIMAT staff. Gabrielle Couch, WIMAT's Business Manager said, "The introduction of an online course booking and payment system for WIMAT has improved the efficiency of business processes, enabled the prompt collection of income, as well as providing real time course management information. It is an excellent example of the benefits of cross-Deanery working".
Jay Beavan, BSSU's Lead Developer for the course booking system, added, "Working collaboratively with WIMAT, and having an opportunity to improve an integral part of their work practices, has been a positive experience for the BSSU team".
